Each year a new commemorative mug/stein was produced and handed out with admission to the Beer Garden.  Whether the glass was used as a mug, or a stein, it quickly became a sought-after collectable.  Along with the Aurora Canada's Birthday Town logo other significant milestones were also printed on the glass, such as the Queen's Silver Jubilee year.
The German Beer Garden began in 1969 and was the first of its kind in Aurora.  Each year it continued to be a staple of July 1st celebrations and for a small admission fee, you could visit and be entertained by a live band - such as Erwin Vogel and the Bavarian Villagers!  While the theme of the Beer Garden changed over time it continued to be in the Aurora Community Center.  By 1977, the German Beer Garden was transformed into Ye Old English Pub.
